Lake Keowee - Seneca Office, SC

The Howard Hanna Allen Tate Lake Keowee Seneca office is located on U.S. Hwy 123 Bypass and serves the southern part of Lake Keowee and Oconee County, including Seneca, Clemson and surrounding communities. The contemporary office is home to 10 Realtors and staff. Mortgage and Insurance representatives are available to assist clients.

Seneca is the largest city on Lake Keowee that reflects the hospitality and beauty of the region, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Established in 1874, Seneca was developed at the intersection of two rail lines, halfway between Charlotte, N.C. and Atlanta, Ga. as a marketing and shipping point for cotton and later, textile manufacturing.

In the late 20th century, major dam projects were constructed on the Keowee and other local rivers to support recreation and public utilities. These created three major lakes: Lake Hartwell, Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee, stimulating development in Seneca and the region. 

Recreation provided by the lakes and other attractions, including Clemson University, attracted retirees and second-home buyers from other parts of the country. 

Seneca’s historic districts offer a unique perspective into the region’s past. The Ram Cat Alley Historic District, once a 21-building commercial district, now houses restaurants, shops and professional offices. The Seneca Historic District features homes and churches built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with architectural styles popular in that period. The Newry Historic District is a historic textile mill village near Seneca.
