NC, SC, VA, GA, TN, FL (as well as most other states) provide online maps updated in real time that show traffic conditions on the major highways as well as other travel related information and include web cameras so you can check out major roads before you travel them.

The links to the respective state traffic maps are:

SC: https://www.511sc.org – select “Extras” for links to nearby state “511” pages 

NC: https://drivenc.gov/ – use the “Map Filters” (on left if using PC web browser) to turn off/on map features including cameras (defaults to off – you’ll see why when you turn camera feature on)

Note: from the map you can go directly to the “511” pages of surrounding states

GA: https://511ga.org/ – select “Legend” to turn off/on traffic data, including cameras

VA: https://www.511virginia.org/ – select ‘Legend” from the sidebar to turn of/on features including cameras

TN: https://smartway.tn.gov/  – from here you can then get to the live Smartway traffic map … the direct link is:

Note: Select the “Feature Menu” to turn off/on map features

FL: https://fl511.com/ – select “Legend” to turn off/on map features including cameras

Other states have similar resources … many of the sites also feature direct links to live traffic maps of surrounding states (either on the map itself, e.g., drivenc.gov; or a separate web page, e.g. for 511sc.org select the “Extras” option; for TN: select “Tennessee 511” from the TDOT – Drivers and Traffic web page.)
