Nordonia Hills is a small town rich with history located a short distance from the urban environments of Cleveland and Akron.  Nordonia’s beautiful surroundings provide more than ample opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Open your eyes to the splendor of the natural world as you stroll and hike throughout Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We bring to your attention some of the spectacular wildlife, botanical, and astronomical observations in the park. Brandywine Falls is among the most popular attractions in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The 60-foot waterfall is the centerpiece of the falls area, but not its only source of interest.

Whether it is skiing or boarding at Brandywine/Boston Mills, riding the The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) one of the oldest, longest, and most scenic tourist excursion railways in the country, cruising your bicycle on the towpath of the the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.

Macedonia Commons is just ONE option for shopping in this area!  It is located at the corner of Northfield Rd. (SR 8) & I-271, Macedonia. It is a Power Center which opened in 1994. It is an Open shopping mall with 1,559 parking spaces. It has about 43 stores.

Sagamore Hills Township is situated in the northwest corner of The Connecticut Land Company’s Western Reserve Range 11, Town 5. Its eleven square miles is part of original Northfield Township that now comprise the Township and the additional communities of Northfield Township, Northfield Village and Macedonia.

The City of Macedonia is called the Crossroad of Northeast Ohio. It is conveniently located amidst the crossroads of 4 major highways: I-480, I-271, I-80 & State Route 8. It’s positioned directly south of Cleveland & north of Akron & Canton.

Just 25 minutes from either downtown Cleveland or Akron, Macedonia is a great place to stay for a business or family trip. There is an abundance of lodging and restaurants, plus it is within a short drive of several major attractions like:

The City of Macedonia boasts a state of the art Family Recreation Center is a 55,000 sq ft community and fitness center. The recreation center also provides a wide variety of recreational and educational programming for all ages.  The Nordonia Hills YMCA is also available for more options.

Macedonia History In the early 1800′s a young man named Henry Woods came across a stream he named Indian Run. Some years later, a man named Abraham Cranmer from Northfield purchased 90 acres of property near Indian Run at the intersection of Jenkins and N. Bedford Roads. This is where he built his home in 1824, the first log house in this new settlement.

Soon other people moved to this new settlement known as “The Corners”. A log school house was built in 1833, a frame church in 1835, and there was an Inn for weary travelers on the stage coach line from Pittsburgh to Cleveland.

In the early years of this new settlement, young theology students from Western Reserve College in Hudson were asked to come to “The Corner” to preach on Sundays at the Free Will Baptist Church. Within their own little circle these theologians began using the biblical passage, “Come over into Macedonia and help us”, when referring to their Sunday preaching visit. Either by accident or by divine intervention, the little settlement at “The Corners” became permanently know as Macedonia.
