Her father and mother raised her to work hard and to always do good for others around her. Margel began her career at the age of 19, after graduating from Bradford School of Merchandising & Marketing in Pittsburgh. She then purchased a local bridal salon, which grew to be an extremely recognized bridal shop in the tri-state area. Margel's career in Real Estate started in the Spring of 1993 with the #1 Erie Real Estate Company at the time, Spiegel Realtors and she quickly became one of Jim Spiegel's top producing agents. In 1996, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services purchased Spiegel Realtors and the rest is history. Over the years Howard Hanna remained the #1 selling Real Estate Company in Erie and grew to be the 4th largest in the United States, while Margel consistently achieved a yearly top 5 ranking of over 500 agents in the area. She truly has seen more buyers and seller's markets in Erie, PA over the years than most agents will experience in their entire careers. Margel continues to excel in real estate throughout Erie County and its surrounding areas. In between sales and raising two children, Steve who is also a realtor with Howard Hanna since 2010 and Marissa who as achieved her Doctorates in Clinical & Forensic Psychology, she has been happily married since 1980 to Dan Szumigale, resides in Fairview and has 3 Cocker Spaniels that keep her on her toes.
