I traveled to Western North Carolina for many years, but I knew from my first visit to Asheville that I would settle here. The vibrant, colorful, and diverse nature of Asheville and its surrounding communities were too much to resist. As a resident, I'm involved in and committed to participating in activities that promote community, environmental sustainability, spiritual diversity, and inclusiveness.  

After graduating from Baylor University with a B.A. in History, I earned an M.A. in History from Louisiana State University. Then, I taught English for a year in Thailand, where I became immersed in Thai culture. I was a K–12 educator in Louisiana and North Carolina. Over the years, I have traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean. I am happily married and the mother of three adult children with successful families and careers. My greatest joys and challenges in life have been learning the grace and grit required to parent these amazing children, and watching them contribute their talent, ideas, and vision to others. I live in Weaverville with my husband and extraordinary Labradoodle, Brody. I love dogs, trees, cooking, and supporting the arts.
