Marie is a first-generation Charlottean (her parents immigrated from Hong Kong) who graduated from the School of Design at NC State. She took a job with an agency representing homebuilders and got recruited to work for one of her clients. She spent the next 15 years of her career as a real estate marketing executive for several top homebuilders, overseeing both the Charlotte and Raleigh markets. Steven was born in Jonesboro, GA but moved to Charlotte when his father, a minister, was called to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Steven's career has been rooted in sales, but he has always had a love for homes. After many years in the beer and wine business, he made the switch to real estate where he was rookie of the year.

Since then, Steven has been with Allen Tate, representing both buyers and sellers throughout the Charlotte metro area. Marie became his business partner in 2019, after making the difficult decision to leave her job position as VP of marketing with Taylor Morrison Homes.“ The plan was to join Steven once the boys went to college but after six years of constant traveling and being gone all the time, the Mommy guilt began taking over my love of the job. My priorities just changed,” she explains.

Lorimer Realtor Team is made up of Steven, Marie and Dana Overby, a licensed NC/SC transaction coordinator who supports them with scheduling, paperwork, important deadlines and even showing property when needed." Dana has been instrumental in our success and growth over the last couple years. Their clients are approximately 60% sellers and 40% buyers, ranging from first-time homeowners, executives relocating to the Charlotte market, couples downsizing after becoming empty-nesters and everything in between. The wide variety is an advantage. “It allows us to have an accurate pulse on the market across all price points as a listing and buyer agent,” Marie says. “We have the knowledge and experience when we represent our clients because we can provide real-time scenarios from both sides, especially in an ever-changing market.”

What gives Steven and Marie an upper hand is having grown up in Charlotte. “As natives, we have seen the cities' growth and are able to provide invaluable local knowledge.
