About Wooster

Serving all of Wayne and Holmes County, the city of Wooster is located 35 miles southwest of Akron and 40 miles south of Cleveland, Ohio. The housing in the Wooster area includes single family homes, planned communities, condominiums, cluster developments, and lofts.

Smucker Company, Worthington Industries, and PepsiCo. Wayne County Agriculture is a multi-billion dollar industry. There are 1,750 farms in Wayne County, with the average farm size being 138 acres.

The nationally recognized College of Wooster is located in the heart of the city. In 2003, US News & World Report has ranked The College of Wooster's Independent Study program as the number two senior experience in the nation, second only to Princeton. The Ohio State University and Agriculture Tech Institute is also located in Wooster.

Wooster has a vibrant downtown area thanks to Main Street Wooster, a nonprofit organization that works with downtown merchants on a variety of programs and events to enhance the city. Philanthropy runs deep in Wayne County, and there are many fundraising events year round. One of the many attractions of Wooster is its Parks and Recreation Department. This includes an Olympic-size swimming facility, a new spray water park, as well as a state of the art indoor ice hockey arena. Wooster claims excellent restaurants, letting its residents enjoy fare from all around the world.
