Monongahela is a small city within Washington County. Located about 17 miles south of Pittsburgh, Monongahela offers its residents small town living with plenty of amenities nearby.

State routes 88, 136, 481 and 837 intersect in this area, allowing for easy travel to and from the city. Residents enjoy recreational activities along the Monongahela River, including boating, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. The community boasts several parks and playgrounds for people of all ages to enjoy, such as Chess Park, the Mounds Park, Hillcrest Park and Westminster Playground. Events are held year round for Monongahela residents and visitors, including waterside concerts at Monongahela Aquatorium.

The Monongahela River Museum hosts tours year round, while the Whiskey Point, an important meeting ground during the Whiskey Rebellion, and a few preserved houses from the Underground Railroad allow for interactive history lessons. A historical marker commemorates the invention of silicon carbide, an important industrial compound used in everything from car parts to jewelry to semiconductors.
