Advance is a small suburb of Winston-Salem in Davie County, NC. This unincorporated community is located along NC Highway 801, south of Bermuda Run, in the state’s Piedmont Triad region. The Yadkin River forms the eastern edge of the community.

The most significant landmark in the Advance area is the Vestal Potts Gymnasium. This basketball gymnasium is named after legendary coach Vestal Potts, who coached Shady Grove's basketball teams to numerous championships.
