The seat of Fayette County, Uniontown is centrally located between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Morgantown, West Virginia. It was founded on July 4, 1776, the same day that the Declaration of Independence was ratified, and it borders the National Road, the first major highway ever constructed by the federal government.
History and tourism abound; Fort Necessity National Battlefield, Jumonville Glen, Braddock’s Grave, and Friendship Hill are all only a short distance from Uniontown. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece creations Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob are nearby, as are Mt. Saint Macrina, Ohiopyle Skate Park, and Youghiogheny River Lake.
