Residents and guests alike partake in the many local events held at Fairmount Park, including ceremonies, concerts and sports games.

Sports are a big part of Philadelphia’s culture, with professional games held year-round. The city is proudly the home of a professional team in every major league, including NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA. With over 86 colleges in the region, there is also an abundance of college teams that residents enjoy rooting for.

Food is big in Philadelphia, as the city is known for its delicious Philly Cheesesteak. The new trend is eating from several of the city’s food trucks, but that does not mean that there aren’t gourmet brick and mortar restaurants that are worthy of praise. Reading Terminal Market, a public market with more than 75 small businesses, offers a variety of foods to eat and places to shop.

Known as a center for arts and culture, Philadelphia boasts such institutions as the Philadelphia Museum of Arts, Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, the Mann Center and the Academy of Music, with performance ensembles, including the Philly Pops, Pennsylvania Ballet and the Opera Company of Philadelphia.
