Jim McVay

Jim works full time with a hardworking, caring approach for his clients. He stays up with the latest technologies through continuing education, use of a consultant and an assistant….and lots of practice! He has enjoyed much success in real estate, his community involvement, education and personal interests. He continues to demonstrate a high level of accomplishment in all his endeavors. He does this in a patient yet determined way.

Since 1978 Jim has been a full time Realtor in Charlottesville. From ’83 to date he has been a multi-million dollar annual producer. Since coming to Roy Wheeler Realty Co. in 1991, he has been recognized many times for his production and professionalism. In 2017 he was Roy Wheeler’s Associate of the Year. Jim’s greatest satisfaction is knowing that 80% of his business comes from clients using him again plus them referring family, friends and co-workers.

Jim is always eager to give back to the community through several organizations. During 16 years with the Red Cross he gave thousands of hours and dollars. Jim has donated over 310 pints of blood. Three local environmental groups receive Jim’s support. Under-privileged youth in the community get Jim’s time, attention and money. His two favorite projects are introducing them to sports and his backpack program- annually buying 50 backpacks, filling them with school supplies and giving them to the kids as they start their first year of school. ‘Being of Service’ also includes being a member of the Blue Ridge Mountains Rotary Club. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

With degrees from Dartmouth College and the Darden School at UVA, Jim showed the intelligence and determination to succeed at the highest academic levels.

Jim’s favorite activities are tennis, meditation, music (both listening and going out to experience it) and crossword puzzles. He was on the same softball team from 1978 to 2012!
