What started out as a hobby for Barb, as she went to a lot of Open Houses and helped friends in the early stages of their house hunting ventures, turned into a full-time career in 2005. She had a chance to get a good start in her real estate business prior to the recession that hit just a couple of years later. Fortunately she kept busy during that slow-down, and loved the flexibility and relationship building that came with her work as a Realtor.

Barb grew up in the midwest, graduated from the University of Colorado with an elementary education teaching degree, and besides teaching, also worked as a bank teller and a clerk at a Christian bookstore. In the mid-90’s, she and her husband, Dick, and two boys, Shawn and Eric, moved from Indiana to Illinois where they spent 19 years in the ministry with Slavic Gospel Association, working with churches in the former Soviet Union. It was during the last 10 years of those 19, that she was pursuing her real estate career.

During the spring of 2016, Barb and Dick made the move to Charlottesville to be closer to their son Eric and Lora … and grandkids, Henry and Della, and now Bette! They love Charlottesville and the beautiful surroundings. After getting licensed in Virginia and joining Roy Wheeler Realty, she has become more and more familiar with the area and continues to love helping her clients with their real estate needs. She has discovered that one of the best ways to build her business, is through referrals from friends, family and acquaintances, so looks for those opportunities to broaden her real estate sphere of influence!

Besides real estate and helping with their grandchildren, she loves to travel, read, swim and sing in the choir at church… and follow her friends and family on Facebook!
