Phyllis Brookshire Senior Vice President-Brokerage Operations

Phyllis York Brookshire is Senior Vice President-Brokerage Operations, overseeing residential operations for Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. Her focus is on strengthening and scaling operational infrastructure across Howard Hanna’s markets, including company processes, technology adoption, field support, and the integration of new markets and acquisitions.

She joined the Allen Tate Company as Regional Vice President in 2007 as the company expanded into North Carolina’s Triangle region and served as President from 2010 to 2021 before becoming Senior Vice President of Operations for Howard Hanna Southeast.

A native of Raleigh, she is proud to share in and follow the footsteps of her father, J. Willie York, whose decades-long construction and development career, outstanding community service, and philanthropy helped shape Raleigh into the thriving metropolis it is today. A Raleigh native, Brookshire began her real estate career with her family’s company, York Properties, where she helped establish its residential real estate division and ultimately served as chief operating officer. She is a past president of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors and was inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame in 2016.

She shares Howard Hanna's passion and vision to raise the bar in residential real estate services for consumers. 

Phyllis attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar, and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. She helped establish the residential real estate division for her family’s company, York Properties, and served as vice president and later chief operating officer until 2006.

Along with real estate, Phyllis has pursued her other passion: training and showing American Saddlebred horses with her husband, Don. She is a multi-titled World Champion equestrienne and continues to compete on the national and world levels with her horses. 

Phyllis and her husband Don live on their horse farm in Asheboro. They enjoy riding horses, entertaining, cooking, and all kinds of college and professional sports.
