Phyllis York Brookshire is Senior Vice President -Operations of Allen Tate Realtors®, overseeing residential operations for the company which consists of more than 2,100 Realtors and 350 staff across their four-region footprint in the Carolinas.

Phyllis joined Allen Tate Company as regional vice president in January 2007 as the company expanded into the Triangle and also served as President from 2010-2021. She shares the passion and vision of Allen Tate Realtors to raise the bar in residential real estate services for consumers.

A native of Raleigh, she is proud to share and follow in the footsteps of her father, J. Willie York, whose decades-long construction and development career, outstanding community service and philanthropy helped shape Raleigh into the thriving metropolis it is today.

Phyllis attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar, and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. She helped establish the residential real estate division for her family’s company, York Properties, serving as vice president, and later chief operating officer of the company until 2006.

Along with real estate, Phyllis has also pursued her other passion, the training and showing of American Saddlebred horses with her husband, Don. She is a multi-titled World Champion equestrienne and continues to compete on the national and world levels with her horses.

Phyllis is an active civic leader in Raleigh, currently serving on the board of directors for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the board of advisors of the Visual Art Exchange. In 2016, she was inducted into the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors Hall of Fame.

Her past community service includes president and director of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors®; dean of the Triangle Realtors® Leadership Academy; board of directors for the Realtor Foundation of Wake County; director for the United Way of the Greater Triangle; and first vice president for the American Saddlebred Museum in Lexington, Kentucky.

She is a past chairman of the board of advisors of the J.C. Raulston Arboretum at North Carolina State University; and has also supported many other community organizations, including Poe Center for Health Education and the Wake Education Partnership.

Phyllis and her husband Don live on their horse farm in Asheboro. They enjoy riding horses, entertaining, cooking, and all kinds of college and professional sports.
