Born and raised on a farm in Yorkshire, England, I learned early on that I love to travel. My first trip abroad came at age 14: a school exchange visit to Westphalia, Germany. After that it was all about planning the next adventure: a youth hosteling trip from Paris to Poitiers with a friend at 16; a year abroad before starting University, living and working as an au-pair in Bremen, Germany and Grenoble, France; a summer in Valencia, Spain at the end of my Freshman year. I studied at the University of London and received a Joint BA Honors degree in French and German. For my required year abroad, I applied for and won the single teaching position in French Guyana, just north of Brazil. All my peers were back home again after 6 months or so but I stayed away 11 1/2 months, travelling around as much as I could and barely making it back in time for the first morning of classes. After graduation, I obtained a TEFL English teaching certificate and worked in Budapest, Hungary for 3 months. Finally back in London and deciding it was time to think about something more permanent, I began my career translating French and German automotive news articles for what was at the time the first international automotive on-line news service. But then the travel bug bit again and I decided to head out to Australia for a year. During my last week at work, an offer to set up the news service division at the company's Detroit office was offered and I took a 6 month detour from my travel plans; a detour that turned into a 25+ year stay. Very happily married with three wonderful children, I look forward to getting to Australia one day but for now, I'm a fully fledged - and happy - Michigander. As a result of these travels and many adventures, I have learned the importance - and extreme pleasure - of making good connections with people. This translates well into the world of real estate where trust and understanding play a fundamental role in a successful Realtor/Client relationship. I consider it an honor and a privilege to help my clients through the entire process of buying or selling their home. At the same time, I do like to have fun along the way. Every time out on a house hunt or every Sunday Open House is a new adventure, best met, in my opinion, with a determined and professional yet fun-filled attitude. I look forward to helping you...and to going the distance for all your real estate needs.
