After thirty-two years of operating my own successful real estate business as Joan Portzline Real Estate, I joined the Realty USA, Triphammer Office in 2013 . It has proven to be a good choice. My time is now focused exclusively on my Buyers and Sellers, and I leave the business operation to others.
I was raised in the Dryden/Ithaca area and am familiar with both the surrounding communities as well as the downtown Ithaca market. My commitment is to communicate often with my clients and to provide ethical service. My experience in all facets of real estate, and my integrity, are put on the line to provide you with a comfortable transaction in which you are confident in your decisions. I will not leave you to wonder about anything; I will answer your questions and guide you through all aspects of the transaction.
My life long experience adds to the skills necessary to give you the most professional care. I grew up in a family run housing business and earned my Bachelor of Science in Business at Ithaca College. Because of a grant awarded to me by the National Association of Realtors, I was able to attend and graduate with my MBA as a Real Estate Major from Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management.
For Sellers I am able to evaluate your home, market it, get buyers from my client list and walk you through the steps to the transfer of title.
For Buyers I help you get qualified for your mortgage, find the right fit for what you are looking for by using great listening skills, and walk you through the process.
I am very proud to have received “One of the 20 Most Outstanding Woman in Tompkins County that you should Know” award. I have served as Past President of Ithaca Board of Realtors, served on the Ithaca Real Estate Board of Directors for many years, served as the District 7170 International Chair for the Ithaca Rotary Club, was Leader for a Rotary sponsored Group Study Exchange (GSE) of 5 business professionals to Turkey, was a Rotary Exchange Student to Costa Rica, on the Board of Directors for Visiting Nurse Service and helped negotiate a permanent home for them, served on the Board of Directors for HOMES, Inc which later became Unity House for housing services for Mentally Handicapped Adults, served as Budget and Finance Chair for Tompkins County Human Service Coalition, as well as a Board Member for other service groups. I have traveled most of the US, parts on Central and South America, Europe, and Mid-East.
This gives me a broad background in other cultures plus the ability to recognize the needs of individuals, while continuing to serve you in a personal small-town way.
Most important for YOU though is: Whether buying or selling; I just want to help you get where you want to go. I look forward to working with you.
Joan lives happily on a fifty acre homestead with her husband Dan Armitage in the Harford countryside with their dog Nick, her horse Cassie, and near their 6 grandchildren and their parents. "I love my life"
