Allegheny County Real Estate & Recreation
All of the recreational activities and events that Pittsburgh offers, adds to the Allegheny County real estate value. Parks, museums, and sporting events can all pull people to an area and keep them there. The Pittsburgh Steelers are normally a very competitive team and have fans across the nation and they may one day look for Allegheny County homes.
The Arts
Arts and humanities also do great deal to attract young and mature alike to the city. Pittsburgh is know for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Dance Council, and the Pittsburgh Ballet theatre, all performing within venues inside the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Other art attractions include the Andy Warhol Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Frick Art & Historical Center, and the Children’s Museum. Technology buffs would be interested in the Carnegie Science Center. Pittsburgh also has a storied history of their involvement with film culture.
Professional Sports
Pittsburgh sports a long history of excellence, both in the professional and collegiate arena. For the major professional leagues, it hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers (football), Pittsburgh Pirates (baseball), and Pittsburgh Penguins (hockey). Pittsburgh sports teams have historically been a defining part of the city’s identity. The city’s sports teams boast numerous “world championships” and are well-known for its numerous sports figures that have spent their careers with one of these professional or other collegiate teams.
Other Parks and Recreation
Pittsburgh has recently focused on the physical health of its inhabitants, implementing river side parks that include canoeing and kayaking. Topographically, Pittsburgh is sided by hilly terrain, including Mt. Washington. Because of this hilly topography, Pittsburghers have numerous opportunities for hiking and other related physical activity. The 275 mile long “Allegheny trail” from Pittsburgh to Washington DC will soon be complete and offer a scenic hiking and biking trail between the two cities.
Pittsburgh houses the country's National Aviary. The Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens features a Victorian-style greenhouse. The Botanic Garden of Western Pennsylvania and Rodef Shalom Biblical Botanical Garden are also located in the area.
