Stow, OH
About Stow
A city in Summit County situated east of Cuyahoga Falls, Stow is named after its original proprietor, Joshua Stow, despite the fact that he never lived in Stow and instead spent ample time and money to develop the area. Joshua Stow even claimed it was “one of the prettiest and most romantic spots in the Western Reserve.” William Walker was the actual first settler in Stow; however, he believed that he was settling in Hudson and not Stow when he built his cabin south of his father’s land. When William Walker learned of his cabin’s geographical location, he purchased the lot on which he’d built his home and continued to live there.
Transportation is relatively convenient in Stow, with Route 8, Route 59, and Route 91 running through the area, Akron Metropolitan Regional Transit Authority (METRO RTA) and Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA) offering bus lines, and Kent State University Airport in the southern part of Stow.
Stow offers various shopping centers, from Graham Square Plaza Shopping Center and Stow Community Center to Oregon Trails Shopping Center and Click Plaza Shopping Center.
